Alex did great in school and is finishing 8th grade in June. In August 2020, he begins an early college program where during his 4 years of high school, he will not only get his high school diploma and will also receive a college associates degree. He continues to enjoy his friends and gaming with his PS4.
Alex had the chance of going back to the same clinic he was treated at to visit patients and encourage them to continue to the fight. This year Alex had the awesome opportunity of meeting the Mayor of the city of Charlotte, where he told his story and all that the Alex’s Story Foundation and Fortika desire to do for childhood cancer. At the beginning of November, at the Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, Alex was part of an official launch of the Alex’s Story Foundation where many heard how they could take part of the fight against childhood cancer in the US and around the world.
Please help Alex continue to make an important impact through the Fortika Coffee Co. & Alex’s Story Foundation

For starters, the “Bean Belt” is located 25 latitudes North and 30 degrees South. Arabica beans are best for growing in high altitudes and Robusta thrives on low ground. As such, Costa Rica produces high-quality wet-processed Arabica beans. It is typically grown on small farms, where the beans are prized for its medium body and sharp acidity.
In addition, Yemen was the first country to commercially cultivate coffee. The coffee beans are smaller in this area because water is scarce in this dry climate. However, the beans are dry processed that gives its beans a deep, rich taste.
Moreover, Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. It is generally wet processed grown in the following regions: Sidamo, Harrar, and Kaffa. The coffee is named after these regions and contains full-flavored, full-bodied taste.
Furthermore, Indonesia is renowned worldwide for its high-quality coffee. It is currently the world’s leading coffee producer exporting rich and mildly acidic flavor. It has one of the most ideal climates to grow coffee—a mix of dampness and humidity.

In the first place, over 500 billion cups of coffee are consumed every year. Finland is actually the number one nation for worldwide consumption. Whereas, 4 in 5 Americans statistically drink coffee on a regular basis.
Also, coffee is one of the world’s most traded commodity—only second to oil.
Moreover, coffee has been scientifically proven to improve health. In 2011, a study showed that women who drank coffee 2 or 3 times a day were 15% less likely to develop depression. Plus, men who drink 6 or more cups of coffee will decrease their risk of prostate cancer by 20%.
Equally important, is that coffee contains antioxidants that help heal damaging cells.
Furthermore, the most expensive type of coffee is harvested in Indonesia. The civet is an animal that eats coffee beans and the beans are collected after it comes out of the digestive tract. This is because it is said to have a smoother and richer taste than typical harvested coffee.

For starters, it is fabled that the birthplace of coffee comes from Ethiopia. The coffee plant was discovered in the country in the 11th century. It was nicknamed “magical fruit” because of the solution created after boiling the cherry-like fruit.
Since its discovery, coffee has spread and is enjoyed in all parts of the world. The coffee bean comes from the fruit of the coffee tree. The most ideal conditions for coffee to grow are humid conditions near the equator.
In fact, the “coffee belt” in Brazil and Vietnam are the highest producers of coffee worldwide. Their climates have a steady 60 to 70-degree Fahrenheit temperature making it ideal for coffee to grow.
Moreover, the berries are harvested by a machine or carefully handpicked. The most common type of bean processing is known as wet processing. This technique requires rinsing the pulp in order to avoid damage to the bean. Once they are processed, there are put in bags and shipped for roasting.
Lastly, coffee is an internationally enjoyed drink and special attention should be given to the careful process of bean harvesting. Now that you know where coffee comes from, make sure to contact us today for our latest products!

In the first place, an espresso originated from Italian roots. The actual process of brewing an espresso begins with boiling water that is then pressurized to create steam. The steam is then pushed out to become hot water into finely ground coffee.
Also, Arabica beans are typically the bean of choice when making an espresso. It has a slightly stronger and bitter taste than its counterpart—Robusta beans.
Moreover, a latte is a mixture of coffee and milk. A latte begins with as oddly as it sounds—an espresso. A latte has a base of about 1-2 shots of espresso and then an added thin layer of milk at the surface.
Furthermore, the foam is probably the most evident part of a latte. Many baristas make this foam art as an added signature when they produce lattes.
Therefore, lattes and espressos are similar because they contain the same espresso base. However, the main difference is the addition of milk. Yes, they are different just because milk is added to the espresso. This, of course, makes it two different drinks.

In the first place, drip coffee is the most traditional method. The coffee grounds are added to the filter of your coffee machine and hot water in the reservoir. The water heats and flows to the coffee grounds and ‘drips’ down into the coffee mug.
In addition, the natural flavor of the coffee is stronger during this method.
Moreover, the French press is a burgeoning technique used to make coffee. You simply put coffee grounds at the bottom of the press, also known as the “carafe.” Then, boil hot water and pour it into a separate cup.
Next, let the coffee grounds sit in the carafe for about 2- 4 minutes. This is so maximum taste will be released. Then, plunge your coffee grounds over your cup of hot water until it suits your desired taste.
In this case, hot water is poured directly onto ground coffee beans. The ground coffee is held into place with a coffee filter and you drink the content trickled from the filter.
Lastly, it is important to us that you are getting the best flavor content out of your coffee! That’s why we offer the best selection of ground coffee to get your day started. Contact us today for more information!

For starters, both species of coffee beans are grown on opposite ends of the Earth. Arabica beans are most commonly grown in Brazil and neighboring Colombia. It is common for arabica beans to be found growing on the “coffee belt”—the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.
On the other hand, Robusta beans are grown in Vietnam. The bean is native to West Africa, although thriving in tropical conditions in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
In addition, arabica beans contain an array of sweet flavors with few beans grown on the trees.
Arabica bean nutrients consist of:
Moving forward, Robusta beans contain little or no flavor. There are many cherries on the trees meaning that flavor diversity is relatively low. The most distinct flavor in Robusta beans is the bitter taste that is commonly associated with dark brew coffees.
Furthermore, arabica beans contain 1.5% of caffeine—a relatively lower amount than its counterpart. Robusta beans actually contain 80% of caffeine that creates instant caffeine!
Lastly, we know the importance of what coffee means to you. What you pick up as your daily coffee depends on the content inside of Arabica and Robusta beans. Contact us today for more information!

Furthermore, coffee culture is seeing its highest expansion in China. The country contains about 3,000 café chains and will double that number by 2020. Coffee consumption has tripled in the past four years.
In addition, the rise of coffee culture in China is due to status. People seen consuming Western coffee are thought of as achieving a higher level of societal status. Still, the average cup of coffee enjoyed per person every year is 2 to 3 cups.
Lastly, people drink coffee differently all over the world. International coffee culture is an especially important part of a daily activity that we are accustomed to. Contact us today for more information!

Circadian Clock
For starters, everyone enjoys having their daily cup of coffee. Some of us drink it at 6 a.m., 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. We drink it because it helps us “wake up” if we haven’t had enough sleep or we need to pull an all-nighter to study for exams.
Moreover, our body is controlled by a natural circadian rhythm or clock. The circadian rhythm is responsible for our sleep and wake cycles. Essentially, controlling our productivity levels when we’re asleep and when we’re awake.
Cortisol
In addition, the circadian rhythm is responsible for releasing cortisol. Cortisol is a hormone that allows us to be alert and awake. Since this hormone is also regarded as a stress hormone, caffeine can actually increase cortisol production.
Typically, this hormone is produced and released from 8-9 a.m., 12-1 p.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m.
The Verdict
Furthermore, if caffeine is taken at the time of day where cortisol is not produced, your body will tolerate the coffee. In other words, coffee will only make you alert if it is taken shortly after cortisol production dips in the day.
The best time to drink coffee is 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-5 p.m.

Medium roasts are called American roast, because it is typically the roast of choice in the United States.
Regional Variants
Additionally, coffee beans grown in certain areas can affect the flavor of the roast itself.
There are two main types of beans:
Furthermore, Arabica beans are commonly grown on the highland hills of Costa Rica. On the other hand, Robusta beans do not require such high elevation growing mainly on Asian grassland.
